FASHION

Erich Biehle (b. 1941, Lucerne) began his career with the Abraham silk company for which he created designs for the most influential Paris couturiers of the post-war era.

He made fabric creations for Yves Saint Laurent, Cristóbal Balenciaga and Hubert de Givenchy for whom he also acted as creative director in the 1980s. His work focused on the current collections of each respective designer. The patterns he created fused together form, color and material to correspond to the current theme of each collection. Biehle's eye for the zeitgeist of the time and his feeling for the poetry of everyday life emerge vividly in his work.
